In Explorer, right click on 'This PC', select 'Properties'. In the search box, type 'env', select 'Edit the System Variables'. Terminate VLC, and start it again.

WEBFeb 26, 2019 · Setting the video output to OpenGL instead of Automatic fixed that problem for me. That is with Win10 v. 20H2, Nvidia quadro k5000 card, VLC v. 3.0.11, and a plain HD ProRes 422 file. It's under under Tools > Preferences, Video tab : Output. There are 2 OpenGL entries, and both work. The "Direct3D9" entry also works.
