Army museum, which also includes Napoleon's tomb, is very impressive. The collection is huge; you could spend several hours there or decide to just view some of it on a shorter visit.Full review by E450KCad

I bought a regular ticket for the first Friday of the month. I would like to go somewhere else in the morning, and spend the afternoon and potential evening at the museum. Do I have to buy a special ticket for the evening or can I use my regular ticket to stay through?

And first Friday evenings are indeed special and they have separate tickets for it. I'd email the museum to avoid surprises.

There is security there and everyone goes through that. Once through that you walk up to the buildings and there is a ticket office. We went in and just got a guide and were free to walk about. We did not see a special entrance for Paris Museum Pass holders but the entrance process was quick and efficient.
