Beautiful beach near Boca Chica and Santo Domingo. It is worth the drive to enjoy the beach. The restaurant staff hustle to ensure you are seated and dine with them. The locals want you to see their … Full review by Beautifultravel1020

Juan Dolio is the best and closest beach from Santo Domingo. Would always go there because you can actually swim in hot and blue Caribbean water as well as there are chairs and umbrellas to rent. Acr… Full review by RomerTek

We went to Parque Enriquillo in Santo Domingo and asked people which bus went to Juan Dolio. A nice local showed us exactly where to stand to catch the bus. We asked the bus driver also (in our limited Spanish) and he confirmed we were on the right bus. It was 80 pesos per person. Then we also knew where to catch the bus in Juan Dolio back to Santo Domingo. Once we got to the beach, we discovered that if you go to a beach bar and buy a cerveza you are more than welcome to sit at one of their umbrella tables on the beach! That was a nice bonus!

Hi Cory, this beach looks beautiful. I'm in the process of booking for October .I was interested that you said 'not the white sand area of DR', it looks pretty white on the pics..? what did you mean by that. I guess I'm used to hearing just white or black sand in the UK!
A:
I would say that the sand is perfect, not white, not golden, but in between!!

Hi there. Although we have been here staying in an oceanfront condo in Juan Dolio since Dec 26th, 2016, we can't tell you too much about Emotions or their currency practices. We do walk the beach in front of the resort daily. We can mention that most restaurants and business take USD, pesos and mastercard. According to a post on TripAdvisor in Nov 2016, the cost for the specialty outdoor seafood resto "Bigaro" was $35 USD /per person. My advice is that you search the reviews of Emotions Bigaro before you decide to spend the money. If you want to get out of the resort for lunch or dinner, there are some wonderful restaurants less than 2kms on both the left and right sides of the road Emotions is located on. Hope this helps. Have a safe trip and enjoy.
