A recount that was supposed to have been done Wednesday is now delayed until next week. But even once that's done, separate legal challenges could continue to delay the official results in the 2024 NC Supreme Court election between Allison Riggs and Jefferson Griffin.

Riggs, who leads Griffin in the Supreme Court race, said her own parents had their votes challenged by Republican election protests.

The North Carolina Supreme Court race is headed to a recount after incumbent Justice Allison Riggs, a Democrat, pulled ahead of her challenger, Republican Jefferson Griffin, by 625 votes after outstanding ballots were counted.

North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs, the Democratic incumbent, led Republican Jefferson Griffin by 625 votes out of 5.5 million once all votes were finished being counted late Monday. Griffin has called for a recount.
