Dallas-based rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested early Friday, according to Dallas County Jail records. Authorities have not yet said why the 27-year-old, born as Xavier Landum, was arrested, or released any other details.

The rapper’s arrest came on the heels of his latest album release. His LP “I Hope You’re Happy” came out at midnight Friday.

In an interview published this week with The New York Times, BigXThaPlug explained how his new album, which fuses country and rap music, came to be. “Artistic, because in my head, whatever I do, I want to be the best at it.

In 2022, the Dallas MC BigXthaPlug released “Texas,” a slide-guitar-­accented boast celebrating his home state’s largesse (“We still ride in ­swangas and put diamonds in our necklace”) and his own hardness (with a shout-out to former Dallas Mavericks player Luka Dončić).
