Texas-based utility provider CenterPoint Energy has said it will have nearly 3,500 distribution line workers on standby around Houston to deal with any power outages caused by Tropical Storm Francine which is due to lash southeastern parts of the state from Tuesday evening.

CenterPoint Energy representatives assured customers that improvements have been made since Hurricane Beryl as the Gulf Coast braces for Francine.

The old power outage map went offline in the wake of Hurricane Beryl as millions of Houstonians were left with no power and little to no information from CenterPoint about when it would be restored.

CenterPoint Energy has activated its Emergency Operations Center ahead of what's expected to become Hurricane Francine.

The National Hurricane Center says a tropical disturbance is likely to become a cyclone that could impact southeast Texas. All eyes are on CenterPoint now.

CenterPoint Energy announced they are actively preparing for potential impacts from a tropical system, Invest 91L, which is projected to make landfall on the Texas coast in the coming days.
