Colorado Springs coach James Chambers officially dubbed Weidner Field a "fortress" following Saturday's win. The Switchbacks won all four of their postseason games at home, outscoring opponents 8-1 in that span. In the regular season and playoffs, the Switchbacks won 14 games in downtown Colorado Springs, after starting off the season 0-5.

No matter what happens, on Saturday there will be a team lifting the USL Championship title for the first time as the Colorado Springs Switchbacks host expansion side Rhode Island FC on CBS at noon. Two teams who turned around their form midseason were sides that no one expected to make the final but thanks to their abilities to hang around in matches and score opportunistic goals,

Chambers and team captain Matt Mahoney played together for Bethlehem Steel where Chambers served as a veteran presence and team captain to help bring along talented players in the Philadelphia Union academy.
