A senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump ruled out former Rep. Mike Rogers as a possibility to lead the FBI on Friday following an outcry from Trump’s base about Rogers’s rumored nomination.

President-elect Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino revealed Friday that former Rep. Mike Rogers was out of the running to be FBI director. Rogers, 61, was rumored to have been on the shortlist to become head of the bureau — but Scavino said Trump threw cold water on the prospect when asked about the ex-Michigan Republican rep’s standing.
