Electronic Arts announced a downsizing of BioWare yesterday that saw "many" employees being moved to other studios within the company while "a core team" continues work on the next Mass Effect. EA declined to comment on whether the restructuring would also result in layoffs,

"Now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been released, a core team at BioWare is developing the next Mass Effect game under the leadership of veterans from the original trilogy, including Mike Gamble, Preston Watamaniuk, Derek Watts, Parrish Ley, and others," McKay said.

That includes former editor Karin West-Weekes, narrative designer and lead writer Trick Weekes, editor Ryan Cormier, producer Jen Cheverie, senior systems designer Michelle Flamm, and writer Ann Lamey, who all confirmed their exits on Bluesky.

According to IGN, "a number" of BioWare developers have been placed by EA into other equivalent roles within the company. Howeer, a smaller number of Dragon Age staff members are also seeing their positions shelved, and are being offered time to apply to other roles within the company (if they so wish).
