A Fresno, California police sergeant has been arrested and booked into jail on charges of an attempted lewd act on a child and communication with a minor intending to commit an unlawful offense.

Paige McQuay was arrested on suspicion of attempting to contact a minor to commit an unlawful offense and attempting lewd acts with a minor, according to Roseville police.

Fresno police arrested one of the department’s own sergeants on Wednesday after he was accused of attempting lewd acts on a child. Sgt. Paige McQuay, 56, was placed in custody in Fresno after Roseville Police Department said he was the subject of a sex crimes investigation, according to a news release.
