A violent, tornado-spawning storm system tore across the central US, leaving at least 25 people dead in Missouri and southeastern Kentucky as it cut a path of destruction through several states.
On May 18, Beshear confirmed the death of an adult woman from Russell County, which is 116 miles south of Louisville, bringing Kentucky's confirmed death toll up to 19, according to his post on X. The victim's age was not disclosed.
Louisville and much of Kentucky are under a slight risk for severe weather Tuesday. Damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes are the main threats.
