Mario & Luigi: Brothership doesn't contain many boss fights, but every once in a while the game will throw a tough obstacle in the player's path. One of these is Gobblick, the guardian boss of the first Great Lighthouse Island. This island and boss unlock after the player completes all prior islands in the Lushgreen Sea.

as well as the same feel-good energy as the previous Mario & Luigi games. The game does well as a revival of the RPG series within the Super Mario universe, coming after plenty of remakes for the Nintendo Switch to reintroduce the genre into the present.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership, the first new Mario & Luigi game in nearly a decade, seems content to iterate on past ideas from the franchise. Brothership brings a handful of new ideas to the Mario & Luigi formula, but only a few of them make the 20-year-old franchise feel fresh.
