Riverside's Mission Inn hotel has transformed for the holidays. The elaborate Festival of Lights Christmas decorations are open now through the New Year.

Guests can see millions of holiday lights adorning the Mission Inn along with holiday-themed decorations in downtown. They also can see Santa inside the Mission Inn, use the ice skating rink or ride the carousel and Ferris wheel. Bright holiday decor can be found for several blocks around the hotel.

It's that time of year when Riverside's Mission Inn becomes more magical. For 15 years, former Texas schoolteacher Kayla Morris put every dollar she could save into a home for her growing family. "I thought I was so mature."

The festival’s switch-on ceremony — followed by a fireworks show and concert — is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m. Once the lever is pulled, the historic Mission Inn will be illuminated by more than10 million lights. Those attending the ceremony are advised to arrive no later than 4:30 p.m.

Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside will host its 32nd annual spectacular Festival of Lights. The family-friendly event is a staple in Southern California and has become a worldwide attraction for kids from 1 to 92.

Ramsgate is set to hold a free light festival over the Christmas period. Ramsgate Lumiere begins on 24 November and runs until 31 December. An opening event called, "Let There Be Light", will be held at St George's Church on 26 November when the Ramsgate town Christmas lights will be switched on.
