Wednesday morning, the Norman City Council narrowly approved a plan to bring an entertainment district and new arena to the city. It’s a process that’s been ongoing publicly for over a year and the vote came after an hours long public hearing.

The Norman City Council voted to approve a new entertainment district in the city early Wednesday morning after hearing from dozens of residents.

Council voted 5-4 in favor of accepting the project plan for the entertainment district and 5-4 in favor of establishing two tax increment financing districts to help fund the project.
