Wayanad is witnessing a triangular contest between Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, BJP's Navya Haridas, and the Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri.

The counting of votes for byelections will begin at 8 am. Over the past few weeks, bypolls were held on 48 assembly seats in 14 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Mananthavady (ST), Sulthan Bathery (ST), and Kalpetta in Wayanad district; Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district; and Eranad, Nilambur, and Wandoor in Malappuram district.

After winning from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, as well, in this year's polls, Rahul Gandhi vacated the Wayanad seat, and the party nominated his sister Priyanka, paving the way for her electoral debut.
