NIE Networks says power has been restored to nearly all of its customers following Storm Darragh. It said 15 customers still require more complex repairs but that "generators have been provided to ensure they have electricity until permanent fixes are completed".

A man died and hundreds of thousands of people in Britain and Ireland have been left without power as high winds and heavy rain battered the region.

NIE Networks will open community assistance centres across Northern Ireland on Sunday as about 22,000 homes remain without power following Storm Darragh. Sustained gusts caused "extensive damage" on Saturday, leaving 48,000 homes without mains electricity, NIE said.

Tens of thousands of people across the UK were left without power on Saturday morning after Storm Darragh hit the country with strong winds and caused pre-Christmas travel disruption.
