Lake-effect snow has been stacking up across West Michigan, with some communities recording more than a half-foot of fresh powder.

Residents of West Michigan are waking up to a fresh blanket of snow as lake-effect snow has begun to hit the region following Thanksgiving Day. According to WZZM13, snowfall estimates early in the morning indicated around 3-4 inches in several counties with expected accumulations to continue throughout the day.

Much of West Michigan is expected to see several inches of Lake Effect Snow, right as Black Friday shoppers head to the stores Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Ottawa, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo and Oceana counties are under Winter Weather Advisories through 7 a.m. Saturday.
