Blizzardlike conditions stemming from a "bomb cyclone" brought heavy snow to the Southeast and ushered in frigid temperatures to much of the East Coast.

More than 100 people have died from storms in the last week, officials say.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced Feb. 4 that at least 28 people in Mississippi have died due to the impact of Winter Storm Fern. "Tragically, additional deaths have been reported, bringing the statewide total to 28," MEMA announced via a news release.
