The change in the college football calendar has been beneficial for the University of Wisconsin football recruiting staff. Luke Fickell admitted he forgot it was signing day before the Badgers received signatures from 24 recruits. Here's what stood out.

Wisconsin is in the midst of a defensive line revamp headed by E.J. Whitlow, and the Badgers were able to stack some talent in the 2025 class with Drayden Pavey, Xavier Ukponu, and Torin Pettaway, but the Badgers needed to add a bonafide playmaker in the mix, and they saw an opportunity with Williams.

The early signing period for the class of 2025 began on Wednesday. The period is the most active on the college football recruiting calendar, as the majority of committed recruits officially sign their National Letter of Intent with each respective program.

While some coaches praised Fickell's recruiting efforts when he first arrived, one coach said they felt like a "complete afterthought."
