One person was killed Saturday morning when a small plane crashed in Butte County, authorities said. The single-engine aircraft went down around 9:50 a.m. near the 3100 block of Old Stage Road, about a mile north of Butte Community College and roughly 3½ miles south of Paradise Skypark airport, according to Cal Fire's Butte unit.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said multiple calls were made at 9 a.m. about a possible airplane crash in the Hollywood area. First responders called to the scene then found the aircraft in a wooded area of Hollywood at around 10:20 a.m.
