Benjamin Netanyahu previously described Donald Trump as the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House. The question going into a second term is how Mr Trump's staunch support for Israel will impact the conflict with Hamas and whether he can actually bring about an end to the war in Gaza.

During his campaign, Trump promised that “you’re going to have peace in the Middle East,” while telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “do what you have to do.”

As reassuring as Trump’s past gestures have been, his second term – and his relationship with Israel – will be shaped by new circumstances, new priorities, and new personalities around him.

The TV personality also criticized those in Hollywood choosing to remain silent on rising antisemitism since the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
