Anyone who looks at their bowl of salad or at their garden can see how different the shapes of leaves can be. Spinach leaves, for example, have smooth edges and are comparatively simple in form, while ...

Leaves come in an extraordinary range of shapes because plants have adapted to different environments. Factors such as sunlight, water availability, temperature, wind and the need to exchange gases ...

IntroductionWhen you turn your eyes to the leaves fallen on a park path, you will find fan-like shapes, slender shapes, and ...

Researchers identified a single coding variant in the soybean gene GmJAG1 that controls leaf shape, validated it functionally ...

Which factors determine the shape of a leaf? By using different methods of systems biology, Barbara Terebieniec has identified genes that control the leaf shape of the European aspen. Barbara ...

A single sassafras tree may have three different leaf shapes: a simple oval leaf, a mitten-shaped leaf, and a three-lobed leaf. Craig shows how to recognize sassafras in the field and discusses deer ...

Our neural parametric model for leaves, NeuraLeaf, represents shapes of various leaf species and natural 3D deformation. Our model represents the leaves' flattened shape and their 3D deformation in ...

A new theory accurately predicts a wide range of leaf shapes and explains the differences between dry lotus leaves and those that grow on water. Different lotus poses. Flat centers and small, ...

Scientists have determined how key developmental genes influence growth of cells to produce such differences in leaf form. The researchers were able to make thale cress, which typically produces ...
