This supermoon — known as the Beaver Moon since this is the time of year when beavers hunker down for the winter — rises after the peak of the Taurid meteor shower and before the Leonids are most active.

More a popular term than a scientific one, a supermoon occurs when a full lunar phase syncs up with an especially close swing around Earth. This usually happens only three or four times a year and consecutively, given the moon’s constantly shifting, oval-shaped orbit.

According to NASA, this moon will not eclipse the brightness of October's supermoon. Nonetheless, this full moon will still be a spectacle.

It will be yet another exciting week for skygazers as they will see the fourth and final supermoon of 2024. The moon will appear bigger and brighter than usual in the night sky as it appears closer to the planet.
