By Joey Roulette CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida, April 1 (Reuters) - NASA is set to launch four astronauts as soon as Wednesday evening on a 10-day flight around the moon, marking the most ambitious U.S. space mission in decades and a major step toward returning humans to the lunar surface before China's first crewed landing.

NASA's Artemis 2 mission launched on April 1 on a historic mission that will see a crew of four astronauts journey to the far side of the moon for the first time since Apollo 17 returned to Earth in December 1972.

NASA will host a public event outlining plans to return astronauts to the moon and build a lunar base under President Donald Trump's space policy.
