BOSTON - Peak foliage season has begun. Northern New England is bursting with color right now and this weekend will be the best time to head to the Green and White Mountains. Thankfully, the weather has been cooperating as of late with a couple periods of rain mixed in with some cool nights up north.

While vibrant fall colors are starting to appear in parts of Massachusetts, the prime fall foliage is currently away up north. Northern Vermont and New Hampshire are seeing more vibrant colors going into this weekend,

That's according to the state's fall foliage report released Thursday. Wayne County, along with Somerset County in western Pennsylvania, are expected to hit peak leaf color in the coming days. Fall frollicks: Take a day trip from Bucks County this fall.
