Former Memphis police officer Desmond Mills Jr. is the state’s second witness in the trial against three ex-colleagues pleading not guilty to the January 2023 beating death of Tyre Nichols.

Federal Judge Mark Norris recused himself from the case days before the sentencing hearings of five former Memphis police officers.
