Dallas Farmers Market will have more than 25 types of pumpkins and gourds fresh from Floyada Texas. Until Halloween, you can pick out the perfect pumpkin for carving, baking or decoration. Plus, you can always knock out some grocery shopping while you're at it. On Oct. 5, they'll host Pumpkin Day with activities for kids like hay and train rides.

Pumpkins are readily available at most supermarkets, but visiting the garden centre or pumpkin patch and picking out a pumpkin specifically is all part of the fun. Some farms even have Halloween festivals and activities to get stuck in with that both adults and children will love.
