The Bharatiya Janata Party has named Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and ex-Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as the designated 'observers' for a meeting of its Maharashtra MLAs later today, at which the Chief Minister issue may be settled.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday appointed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as central observers for the selection of the Maharashtra BJP Legislature Party leader.

Shinde's claim came while speaking to the reporters on Sunday. After he reached Satara, Shinde complained of fever and throat pain and was put on saline on Saturday. Later, Shinde left for Thane on Sunday evening.

He also sought to remind the BJP central leadership that Assembly elections were successfully fought under his leadership although he reiterated that his party will support the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
