Laos police have detained eight staff and managers of the hostel where Australians Bianca Jones and Holly Bowles were staying when they fell ill. A third Australian is also recovering from suspected poisoning.

Family members, co-workers and the Beaumaris Football Club are mourning the Melbourne teen, who died in Thailand one day after her best friend, Bianca Jones.

Yellow and blue ribbons are being tied around Beaumaris in memory of the teen, who died in a suspected methanol poisoning incident in Laos.
