Bangladesh High Court on Wednesday acquitted former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a corruption case in which she was sentenced to seven years in jail by a lower court, according to media reports.

Khaleda Zia served as the PM of Bangladesh from March 1991 to March 1996, and again from June 2001 to October 2006.

The High Court today acquitted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case in which she was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment by a lower court. The HC scraped the trial court verdict that sentenced Khaleda and two others in the same case.
