A Red Lake Department of Public Safety officer was one of two people killed in a crash in the northern Minnesota community Wednesday morning.

Branch, a Red Lake public safety officer, and Red Lake Band member Alan Lussier Jr. died when their vehicles collided on Highway 1, east of the Red Lake community. Few details have been shared regarding the circumstances of the crash, but the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office said Branch "was responding to a call" when the collision happened.

An on-duty Red Lake tribal police officer was one of two drivers who died in a traffic collision Wednesday. The crash occurred on Hwy. 1 east of the Red Lake community, according to the Red Lake Police Department.
