The key figure in what became the Freedom Convoy protest that paralyzed downtown Ottawa in early 2022 has been found guilty of five of nine charges against him for his role.

A judge in an Ottawa courtroom Friday said the Crown proved beyond a reasonable doubt that King, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, was guilty on one count each of mischief, counselling others to commit mischief, counselling others to obstruct police and two counts of disobeying a court order.

Canadian right-wing activist Pat King was convicted of five charges and could face up to 10 years in jail. The judge said he incited protesters to rail against COVID-19 protocols in early 2022.
