Houston is expected to be hit by heavy rainfall later in the week, with a slight risk of excessive rainfall on Friday in eastern and southern parts of the area. Regardless of development, showers and thunderstorms will likely move through southeast Texas.

Houston faces a dry Wednesday as high pressure moves in, but the tropical system Invest 93L could send downpours to Southeast Texas by Thursday.

A disorganized low-pressure area off Florida is showing increasing chances of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm this week.

The hatched areas on the National Hurricane Center's tropical outlook map indicate "areas where a tropical cyclone — which could be a tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane — could develop," said National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Jamie Rhome.

Southeast Texas residents should prepare for possible flash flooding and heavy rainfall as a weak tropical system moves in this weekend.

Unlike Monday, which was a deluge for South Florida, today’s tropical-system-related rain is expected to be more concentrated in the center of the state. The Miami office of the National Weather Service predicts South Florida could see around 1 inch of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, not enough for any severe flooding.

The residents in New Orleans are gearing up for heavy rainfall as weather forecasters predict it could get 10 inches of rain from tropical system. A series of flood watches were in effect across southern portions of Louisiana and Mississippi,

Regardless of how the system develops, the National Weather Service said in a Wednesday morning update that "a surge of tropical moisture could enhance the risk of showers and thunderstorms" in Southeast Texas by the end of the week.
