Local law enforcement officials are taking steps to enhance public safety and potentially halt the upcoming Jeep Weekend, also known as "Go Topless Weekend," on the Bolivar Peninsula. Sheriff Jimmy Fullen met with Houston Police Department Chief Noe Diaz and their respective command staffs Tuesday at HPD headquarters to develop a coordinated response strategy.

Whitmire said the Houston Police Department is focused on enforcing state laws. He also said “politicizing” federal deportation efforts “is the worst thing you can do.”

Around 10:30 p.m. HPD and the Houston Fire Department responded to a shooting at 5050 Yale Street. A man in his 20s was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by HFD. According to HPD Lieutenant Horelica, he just moved here from Louisiana.

At the scene, the victim’s sedan could be seen mangled and the front of the suspect’s truck was heavily damaged. Debris from the vehicle was found near the scene.
