The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is conducting a death investigation after a deceased person was found in south Alabama waters Wednesday beneath the Interstate 10 Bayway in Baldwin County, the agency said.

Interstate 10 Bayway traffic slowed to a crawl and was halted at times this morning as law enforcement officials on both spans and in the water below conducted what is being described as a death investigation.

Interstate 10 from the Alabama/Florida state line almost to Tallahassee has been closed since Wednesday evening. Conditions have now improved.

At about 7:30 a.m. troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division discovered a deceased body in the lower Delta near Spanish Fort, according to ALEA. Traffic across the Interstate 10 Bayway is slowed in both directions this morning with the inside lanes closed.
