Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan announced the team's latest decision involving star Patrick Kane, handing bad news to Dylan Larkin and the rest of the locker room.

After a disappointing overtime loss against the Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan sent a straightforward message to captain Dylan Larkin and the rest of the team.

Larkin recorded a key goal and assist in his 700th NHL game, leading the Red Wings to a 4-2 win over the Canadiens.

The Detroit Red Wings started strong, skated well, registered a season-high 45 shots, never trailed and were perfect on their troublesome penalty kill. They ended a three-game skid (0-2-1) and picked up two huge points against one of several teams they’re chasing in the wild card race.

The Detroit Red Wings have a player on their hands who does nothing but work and is far from a "dull boy." All successful hockey organizations make the most of their drafting and development. Part of that is selecting the right players for the team.

Raymond was doing fine before McLellan became Detroit Red Wings coach on Dec. 26. Since then, his game has reached another level. He has 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) in 16 games under McLellan. He ranks second in the NHL in points during this time, one behind Boston’s David Pastrnak.

Over the last nine games, Kasper has five goals (along with three assists), and playing on a line with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, the scoring chances are increasing, you can see the offensive attributes Kasper has, and there's simply more confidence in his game.
