A double murder of Richard and Rita Zajko in December 2022 has been linked to the fatal shooting of a Border Patrol Agent in Vermont.

An arrest was made for the shooting of a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot during a traffic stop in Vermont, according to the FBI.

The Vermont State Police has promoted Lts. John-Paul Schmidt and Ashley "Skip" Barnes to the rank of captain in the criminal division, effective Jan. 26.
