More than a week after the big winter storm hit, the city of St. Louis is coming under fire for not treating side streets plowing areas where people’s homes are.

An intense winter storm system will roll through the St. Louis region this weekend. A mix of heavy snow and ice is expected across the entire St. Louis metro from Saturday evening to Monday morning, primarily on Sunday.

The winter storm has officially moved out of the St. Louis region, as numerous winter storm warnings expired for the area early Monday morning. Area roads are still being cleared by IDOT and MODOT, so drivers are urged to delay travel or postpone plans Monday.

Comptroller Darlene Green said she'd approve an emergency expenditure to get contractors to clear the streets before the city has its next deep freeze temperatures.

A powerful winter storm will sweep through the St. Louis region on Sunday, bringing a mix of snow, sleet and ice to close out the weekend.

In anticipation of severe weather, multiple airlines have canceled or reduced their flights into and out of St. Louis.

A lot of people are blaming the school district, but it’s not their fault. They’ve had to call off school because the streets are not safe,” said one citizen.

As temperatures rise in the region, fewer businesses offer snow removal and so when the need for help does arise, existing snow removal companies are inundated with requests.

Residents said they've had spotty mail service in Southampton for a while, but have never gone this long without getting their mail.
