Arsenal reportedly have two of former players on their radar to replace Edu as sporting director, with ‘discussions initiated’ with one of them.

Arsenal have begun their search for a new sporting director following the news that Edu would leave the club with academy manager Per Mertesacker among those on their shortlist

Two former Arsenal players are reportedly being eyed up to become the club’s new sporting director following the shock resignation of Edu. It was announced on Monday that Edu had left his post at the Emirates and is expected to take up a role at Evangelos Marinakis’ group of clubs which includes Nottingham Forest.

West Ham are reportedly fearful that technical director Tim Steidten is an option for Arsenal to replace departing sporting director Edu Gaspar.
