The National Marine Fisheries Service is investigating claim that RFK Jr. cut off the head of a dead whale and took it home two decades ago.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has responded to allegations of a romantic relationship with New York Magazine's Washington correspondent, Olivia Nuzzi. The claims were first reported by journalist Oliver Darcy in the Status newsletter,

"I received a letter from the National Marine Fisheries Institute saying that they were investigating me for collecting a whale specimen 20 years ago," he stated at the event.

In an 18-page order, a federal judge in Michigan dealt the latest blow to Robert F. Kennedy's bid to have his name taken off the Nov. 5 ballot.

He made the claim at a campaign event for former President Donald J. Trump, whom he endorsed after ending his troubled independent bid for the presidency.

Kennedy’s daughter recalled the whale incident in a 2012 interview with Town and Country magazine, which recently resurfaced and was shared on social media.

Katherine Silverstein, a spokesperson for NOAA, told the Times that the federal agency typically does not comment on open investigations.

Kennedy Jr. is under federal investigation for an incident involving a dead whale that dates back two decades. The National Marine Fisheries Service confirmed the probe, which follows allegations that Kennedy cut off the head of a deceased whale and transported it home.
