After two decades of covering Sundance, I have nothing but respect for documentary filmmaking. Another example of how powerful documentaries are is the Festival Favorite Award winner for 2025.

After all, the statistics are formidable: Over the last five years, Sundance has produced three of the five Oscars documentary winners, 13 of the 25 nominees and 42 of the 75 shortlisted films.
