The BCCI recently introduced a rule preventing overseas players from re-entering the IPL if they pull out after registering.

Ben Stokes' name was missing from the long list of 1,574 players who have registered for the player's auction.

Any foreign player who has not signed up for the mega auction will not be able to participate in the auction the following year.

Under new rules announced by the IPL last month, it also means that Stokes will not be eligible to play in the 2026 competition

James Anderson last played a T20 game more than 10 years ago, but the fast-bowling legend, who retired from international cricket in July this year, feels he has enough gas left in the tank to have a go in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Each franchise will be able to form a maximum squad of 25 players (including retained players), and a total of 204 slots will be up for grabs at the auction.

The IPL 2024 mega auction list features notable names like James Anderson, who registered for the first time, and Mitchell Starc, returning after a hefty price tag last year. However, Ben Stokes opted out to prioritize his fitness.

Interestingly, Anderson has never competed in a global franchise T20 league, and his last T20 game was in 2014 for Lancashire.
