A potential tropical disturbance headed towards the Southeastern United States is likely to bring heavy rains to the state over the Fourth of July weekend, according to the FOX 35 Storm Team and the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The National Hurricane Center is tracking several tropical waves and a disturbance in the western Caribbean. There is a potential for tropical development in the Gulf or off the southeast coast of the U.S. in early July. Showers and thunderstorms are predicted across most of Florida Friday, June 27.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring a disturbance in the western Caribbean Sea that could develop as it moves into the southern Gulf of Mexico over the coming days. Forecasters currently give the system a 20 percent chance of tropical development.
