The Lebanese militant group captured an advanced Israeli anti-tank missile in the 2006 war, and its ally, Iran, reverse-engineered it, Israeli officials say.

For years, Israelis were told that in the next war with Hezbollah, the Lebanese militia would fire thousands of rockets and missiles a day, overwhelming their air defenses, causing blackouts, death and destruction.

These missiles have a range of up to 10 miles and they carry advanced guidance seekers to track and lock onto targets.

The Israeli military has claimed that Russia is assisting Hezbollah by supplying weapons, with IDF troops uncovering a Hezbollah anti-tank missile post in southern Lebanon. The IDF reportedly recovered several Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missiles and other high-tech weaponry at the site.
