In a statement issued yesterday, the Jacob G Zuma Foundation said the former statesman strongly rejected ‘the notion that the ANC, under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa, has the authority to expel him from the movement to which he has dedicated his life’.

The country’s governing party had severed ties with the former president in July after he campaigned for an opposition party in the last general election.

Despite both the ANC and MK Party constitutions preventing members from being members of other parties, Jacob Zuma wanted to do so.
