Great Crossing center Malachi Moreno has seen plenty of success throughout his high school career, and now he can add McDonald’s All-American to that list.

Moreno becomes the 79th McDonald’s All American to sign with Kentucky since the game first began in 1977, and just the sixth homegrown selection, joining Dirk Minniefield (1979), Winston Bennett (1983), Rex Chapman (1986), Rajon Rondo (2004) and Reed Sheppard (2023).

BROOKLYN, NY. (WKYT) - Great Crossing four-star center Malachi Moreno has been named a 2025 McDonald’s All-American. Moreno is the only 2025 UK signee to make the roster, Kentucky’s becoming the 79th McDonald’s All-American.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Great Crossing High School center and University of Kentucky men’s basketball signee Malachi Moreno is on the final roster for the McDonald’s All American Game in Brooklyn, New York on April 1.

The list of 2025 McDonald’s All-Americans was released Monday afternoon, with 24 of the best boys high school basketball players from around the country receiving the accolade of becoming a Burger Boy.

Moreno is following in the footsteps of Reed Sheppard, the last Bluegrass native to play in this all-star event before heading to play for the University of Kentucky.
