Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is expected to remain in the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The star rearguard missed Tuesday's morning skate. However, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports that Doughty will play against the Islanders.

Doughty notched an assist, blocked four shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blues.

Drew Doughty is day to day because of a lower-body injury that kept the defenseman out of the Los Angeles Kings’ game against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.

Thanks to an ankle injury he suffered during exhibition play, the Los Angeles Kings were forced to play the first several months of the 2024-25 NHL season without veteran defenseman and assistant captain Drew Doughty.

Doughty's absence is unexpected -- he's played eight straight NHL games as well as suiting up for Canada during the 4 Nations Face-Off after overcoming an ankle injury. The defenseman has four points this season. It's unclear if the Kings will stick with seven defensemen in the lineup to cover for Doughty's absence.

Both the Vancouver Canucks and the Los Angeles Kings will be without some impact defencemen when they faceoff against one another on Wednesday night.

Quinton Byfield scored on a wrist shot 27 seconds into overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. Byfield got his 13th goal of the season, capitalizing on a turnover forced by Adrian Kempe before scoring from the left circle to end the Kings' five-game skid.
