The DeKalb County Police Department identified David Rose, 33, as the officer killed while responding to a gunman outside the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) campus in Atlanta.

The suspect and a DeKalb County Police officer were killed. Another officer was injured, according to CDC Director Susan Monarez.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said in a statement that Rose served in the Marine Corps and graduated from the DeKalb Police Academy in March, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

An active shooter situation at Emory University ended with the suspect and a police officer dead. Authorities didn’t immediately identify the shooter.
