There are several upcoming DC movies and TV shows on the way as James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU kicks off alongside other 'Elseworlds' projects such as Matt Reeves' Bat-verse. Fan-favorite names are returning, while Gunn has even talked about Superman sequels and a fresh Wonder Woman project in recent times.

DC Studios has an ambitious cinematic plan for the years ahead, with 11 movies already confirmed at different stages of development.

This means that future DCU movies and series don’t need to only move the story forward. They can also take things back in time. A period story about a metahuman from 100, 200, or 300 years ago is perfectly acceptable. This opens up possibilities for different sorts of stories in a way that the MCU has largely had to rely on the multiverse to tell.
