Dominic De La O, 27, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury found him guilty of murdering Alamogordo officer Anthony Ferguson in July 2023.

Jospeh Martinez, the director of Medicaid Fraud and Elder Abuse Division with the New Mexico Department of Justice, said someone made a complaint in 2021 and have been gathering evidence since then. "They were submitting claims and being paid for services that they did not have the credentials to provide," Martinez said.
